The 7 Pot chilli, also known as 7 Pod, is one of the top 5 hottest chillies known to man. The name apparently comes from the fact that it is said that a single chilli can spice up 7 pots of stew! The chilli has a fruity flavour and packs an incredible punch, consistently measuring over 1,000,000 Scoville units.
There are a number of varieties, including the Jonah and also Brain Strain and also a Yellow and Chocolate version. They all share the same characteristic ‘dimpling’ as found on some of the other uber hots, such as the Naga’s or Bhut Jolokia’s. They also have a huge amount of placental issue which contains a high majority of capsicum. We use the 7 pots in our ‘Septenary’ (base-7) super-hot sauces. The Red’s are used in the Red version.
