The 7 Pot chilli, also known as 7 Pod, is one of the top 5 hottest chillies known to man. The name apparently comes from the fact that it is said that a single chilli can spice up 7 pots of stew! The yellow 7 pot carries a very fruity, almost pineapple like flavour. It’s slightly less hot than it’s red counterpart, but still packs an incredible punch, likely to be the best part of a 1,000,000 on the Scoville scale.

There are a number of varieties, including the Jonah and also Brain Strain and also a Yellow and Chocolate version. They all share the same characteristic ‘dimpling’ as found on some of the other uber hots, such as the Naga’s or Bhut Jolokia’s. They also have a huge amount of placental tissue which contains a high majority of capsicum.

We use the 7 pots in our ‘Septenary’  (base-7) super-hot sauces. The Red’s are used in the Red version.
